Simple Seed Stitch: a stockinette stitch interspersed with purl stitches.

Done over a multiple of 4 sts.

Row 1: *K3, P1*

Row 2 and all other even rows: purl

Row 3 and 7: knit

Row 5: K1, *P1, K3*, P1, K2

Done over an area of a few inches, this easy pattern creates the illusion of diamonds.
