Fall Purses

Fall Purses 019, originally uploaded by kelli320.

Photographer's note:

"Add this to my list of favorite purses of this fall. I love this heathered shade of green. It's not loud or dark, just perfect, in my opinion. The handles are a woven leather-like material that really work well with this purse."

Beautiful green wool purse~

The Red Thread Project

red thread project, originally uploaded by Get Stitchy With Sarah.

This is something I just became aware of, and it sounds great. What a wonderful way to "connect" and to do good.

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place or circumstance.
The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break." -Chinese proverb

"The Red Thread Project® is community art made by the community for the community. Hundreds of youths and adults knit and crochet hats; attach the hats to a ½ mile long knitted red thread; wear the hats in a simple performance / dance; exhibit the hats and, finally, donate the hats to local charities including those assisting cancer patients, foster children, the elderly and the homeless.
The Red Thread Project® celebrates community connections, both visible and invisible, while encouraging and fostering individual creativity. Since its inception in 2004, over 5,000 hats have been donated to charities in Terre Haute, IN, Memphis, TN, Grand Rapids, MI and St. Louis, MO.
For the school year 2010-2011, The Red Thread Project® will be at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, IL. Join the fun! Make a hat. Teach another to knit or crochet. Take part in the performance. There are many ways in which you may become involved.

knitted star dress design | fashion portrait

This is quite gorgeous. Both the knitted dress, and the photograph. Read more about this photo, and visit the photographer's site:

"A fashion dress knitted by my sister for her course work at college, a fashion portrait by me to promote and show it off abit. The dress looks shop bought up close so we wanted a photo of simular quality that kept the emphesis on the dress and that also keep in the knitted and stary theme. The post production work on this was around 7 hours but well worth it =]

Handbags for Charity

Another good one:

MIss Mita tells us:

"I knit & sold these to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society"

Thank you~

Luke, the Leukemia Cell.

Luke, the Leukemia Cell., originally uploaded by Mizzkyttie.

This knitter tells us about this photo:

This is Luke. He's a cancerous cell, made especially for my friend Amanda, who came out of remission this year. She was very upbeat, but still wanted something -physical- she could beat the crap out of when she was feeling down. Thus, Luke was born...and I'm happy to say that she's in remission once again!

As my dad has leukemia, I'm looking for positive images to keep me moving along. I really like this one. Here is a link to go with the photo:

These colors just sing to me. And, it's a Kaffe Fassett design. . . love his work.

And kudos to this knitter, who did a beautiful job on these socks.

Okay, this is cool!

Photographer's note:

"Part of my final collection for my Masters. Machine knitted using hand dyed yarns 100% lambswool and inspired by traditional fair isle."

Knitting Fair Isle Mittens & Gloves

A great fair isle knitting book~

This knitter tells us:

"I can't believe I found this book for cover price on Amazon.uk!!!"

Kristin's knee socks from Vogue Knitting

Aren't these socks great?

Photo note:

"These knee socks are knit in my Julia yarn in fair isle and then decorated with embroidery. They were featured in the Fall 2006 issue of Vogue Knitting. They are also featured in the book Vogue Knitting: The Ultimate Sock Book."

Isn't this a fun pattern for those musically inclined knitters!

This knitter notes:

"computer generated knit i made for my textiles class"

Fair Isle Gloves

Fair Isle Gloves, originally uploaded by show and tell.

These are so beautiful! I am admittedly not a fair isle knitter, preferring lace and cable work (texture knitting). But, I can always hugely appreciate good fair isle from other knitters.

I did take a workshop about 18 years ago, from Alice Starmore, which was wonderful!

Photographer's note:

"1991 - I made these for my girlfriend's birthday when I was in college, using a pattern from Alice Starmore's Fair Isle Knitting."
