Knitting Book on knitting with dog hair
Several years ago, I was commissioned to do a hat and mittens as a gift for this woman's husband. They didn't have kids, and their hairy dog was very special to them. Would I please spin and knit the hat and mittens? Sure, I said. And I did.

Okay, in searching for dog sweaters/knits, I am finding all sorts of good stuff. Here's a magazine, just for dog knits.

Here's another dog sweater-in-progress I just found. I love the colors, being partial to the Autumn tones.

A commissioned dog sweater for a co-worker's very loved dog. She always puts a hunter orange sweater on her dog when outside during hunting season. I was duplicating a sweater knit for her first dog, Howard. I used three orange wools, and a Manos color for the accents. This sweater buttons down the belly, and has a cat button on the center back neck.

A pattern I got out of 'Stylish Knits for Dogs'... Makes a very bulky fabric as you are knitting with 2 strands (2 bulky)... I found that there were many issues with the pattern... so I had to do several tweaks to the sweater, and I'm still not completely happy with it...but I don't feel like taking it apart again ...

This is great! It is important *not* to leave out our feline furry friends. Here are the photo notes for this image:

Needles: two size 7 Knitpicks Options circulars, and size 6 Susan Bates DPNs for the ribbing for the sleeves.
Yarn: Same called for on the Knitpicks page (this is all a big ad for Knitpicks, as you can see), Swish in Capri, Sand Dune, and Truffle. The cream was Knitpicks Bare, their superwash dyeable yarn.
Pattern: Feral Fair Isles, a pattern by Amy Swenson, featured in Kristi Porter's Knitting For Dogs.
Started July 2, 2007, and Finished July 20th.
Thoughts: I looove the yarn. Swish is super soft, and I loved the feel of it. The colors are awesome, and I really like the result of the sweater. The pattern could have been a bit better- there were some mistakes, easily fixed by looking at the pictures, but the publishing company never bothered with putting up an errata page, which irked me. I need some work on my fair isle work, as the stitches where I switched colors every other stitch puckered badly.

I can knit a rainbow !
This is way to gorgeous to pass up. As a former spinner (and hopefully again soon) I totally appreciate the time and love that went into this. The colors are exquisite~

At the Eden Project in Cornwall, in the link area between the biomes, a knitted Christmas tree with decorations.
The ‘tree’ is made up of several thousand knitted sleeves and stands 30 foot tall, the knitted ’knitting angel’ on top being 54 inches tall. Over 1000 people, many children, were involved in this project and are aged between 4 and 96.

Great Poulsbohemian Scarf
One of my favorite coffee houses is the Poulsbohemian Coffee House in Poulsbo, Washington. Marianna and the baristas there serve up a mean turkey chutney sandwich on your choice of bread, and the coffee drinks to go with are sublime. Did I mention the desserts? Mmmm....
Why mention a coffee house on a knitting/poetry blog? Well, because on every first Saturday night of the month, at around 7 pm, the Poulsbohemian hosts the Armchair Poetry Reading Series. Two to three readers read for about an hour, and afterward is an open mike for those eager to share some new work.
Where does the knitting come in? Well, go on in, and look for the big basket with the yarn in it, and coiled up into a big (and I mean BIG) ball is the "Scarf." Marianna says on her website:
"...We measured the scarf on our Pumpkin Carving Day, Sunday 'October 26th 2008 and it was 168 yards long! That's 1/10th of a mile..."
People donate yarn to the cause, and sit and knit awhile. Anyone is welcome to add a few rows while sipping their favorite coffee or tea. So, what does this scarf look like?

I made that middle pair of shoes out of grocery bags a long time ago (and I guess it circled the intertubes for a little while), but I was recently in an art/dance show here in Pittsburgh centered around the theme of reuse/remix/recycle, and so I decided to make a couple of other pairs. They're all crocheted and woven from grocery bags, mostly Giant Eagle and Whole Foods, though I forget about the white ones. Size 7

I just posted this to my And The Bag to Match blog. This is very cool, and something you're not likely to run out of any time soon! Probably don't even need to worry about dye lots, either. I love it!
